A device that uses light to monitor the working or positional status of circuits and electrical equipment. Indicator lights are typically used to reflect the working status of a circuit (energized or de-energized), the working status of electrical equipment (running, stopped, or tested), and positional status (closed or open), etc.
Indicator lights using incandescent lamps as light sources are composed of lamp holders, bulbs, lampshades, and connecting wires. Some also use light-emitting diodes as indicator lights. They are generally installed on the panels of high and low-voltage distribution devices, such as screens, panels, consoles, and cabinets, or on the control panels of certain low-voltage electrical equipment and instruments, or other conspicuous locations. Indicator lights reflecting the working status of equipment usually show a red light for operating status, a green light for stopped status, and a milky white light for testing status; indicator lights reflecting the positional status of equipment usually show the light on for energized equipment and the light off for de-energized equipment; indicator lights reflecting the circuit working status usually show a red light for energized and a green light for de-energized. To avoid misjudgment, the integrity of bulbs or light-emitting diodes should be checked frequently or regularly during operation.
